If you are on the lookout for games in next week’s Premiership fixture list that stand out due to the easiness of being able to predict the victor, then Manchester City versus Wolves is certainly one of them. Wolverhampton Wanderers only narrowly avoided their seventh defeat on the trot when they were able to come back from two goals down against newly promoted Swansea last week, which goes some way to showing what dire form Mick McCarthy’s men have been in so far this season. Manchester City, meanwhile, are top of the league having gone unbeaten over the entire season so far that has seen them drop just two points.

This has been largely due to Manchester City’s defensive solidity. They play a 4-2-3-1 formation frequently favoured by Italians that involves two defensive midfielders sitting deep to protect the back four from counter-attacks. De Jong has become an expert in this position and is usually partnered by the ever-reliable Gareth Barry or the recently recovered Owen Hargreaves. This then leaves the other three midfielders and the striker to score the goals and because City possess such quality in the attacking third, they are normally able to win games by securing that sacred clean sheet while nicking a few up the other end due to the skills of their attackers. Sergio Aguero has been scoring freely whenever he has played while Dzeko is also starting to validate the £20 million invested in him in the January transfer window of last season despite a slow start to his City career. I would consequently predict a comfortable City victory in this game, perhaps by three or four goals.

If you are planning to place a bet on a City victory in this game, take my advice and increase the value of your bet by combining it with another bet in a multiplier, for example you could take a look at horse race betting odds and use a bet on a race in a multiplier. By studying horse race betting, picking your winner and combining a bet on them with a bet on a City victory, you stand to make a packet should both of your bets come to fruition.

Next week Chelsea play host to Arsenal at Stamford Bridge in a match that will tell us plenty about the chances of the two teams over the coming season. Arsenal have had a shocking start to the season but appear to be starting to turn the corner recently and are unbeaten in six games since losing to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in the North London derby. Wenger admitted last week that following the departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri in the summer, “half of the dressing room wanted to leave”, but he has managed to steer his sinking ship back towards port and they are finally starting to get some points on the board. They are still twelve points off of the top of the table and it will be a steep climb back to the nearer the top, but though the Arsenal faithful cannot realistically still harbour hopes of winning the league, they will certainly be aiming for fourth spot and qualification for next year’s Champions League. They will be hoping that Jack Wilshere returns as soon as possible from the ankle injury that has kept him out for the entirety of the season so far and also that Aaron Ramsey is able to continue his excellent form in central midfield that saw him score a last minute winner against Marseille in midweek.

Chelsea have also been steadily improving as the season as developed and their only loss so far in the league has been away against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Fernando Torres has finally found his goal scoring boots after a torrid start to his career at Stamford Bridge as his two goals against Genk in midweek testified, and the impact of Mata in midfield has meant that the Blues have been able to carve out more chances per game than any other side in the League. Their defence also looks exceptionally solid with John Terry partnered by either Alex or Ivanovic. I would consequently predict a Chelsea victory in this game despite Arsenal’s recent return to form as Chelsea are still looking stronger overall and also have home advantage in this match.

If you are going to take my advice and place a bet on Chelsea beating Arsenal in this fixture, then I would also suggest that you get the most bang for your buck by combining your bet on them with another bet on another sporting event, for example you could take a look at the trends in Australian Open betting. Another option might be to study the trends in World Darts Championships betting and combine a bet here with your bet on Chelsea. By creating a multiplier with numerous different bets you will improve the odds for each individual wager contained within the multiplier and so will stand to make a packet if all of your predictions are correct.

Attempting to predict the result of this match if you are thinking of placing some money on who you think is going to win shouldn’t be too difficult. Everton have not beaten Manchester United at home or away for nearly a decade and the fact that Sir Alex Ferguson’s men are in scintillating form while David Moyes’ charges have yet to get their season really up and running will surely mean that this record continues. Everton lost their main playmaker and free kick taker on the last day of the transfer window when Arsenal signed Mikel Arteta for £10 million and because the transfer occurred at the last minute, Moyes had no time to replace him. He now has £10 million burning a hole in his pocket with no chance to invest until January and a gaping hole in the middle of his midfield.

I would consequently put my money on a Manchester United victory if I were you. Rooney was left out of the match against Liverpool the week before last because Ferguson was concerned about the player’s mental fragility following his sending off against Montenegro for England along with his father’s arrest for betting irregularities, but he returned in midweek for their Champions League match in Bucharest where he scored the only two goals of the game from the penalty spot and United fans will be hoping that he can continue his run of goal scoring form in the Manchester derby this weekend followed by the game away at Goodison Park. Hernandez has also returned from the concussion that kept him out of the beginning of this campaign to continue his goal scoring feats for the reigning Champions while Tom Cleverley will also return from a broken ankle in time for this match. I would predict a Manchester United victory by two or three goals.

If you are planning on taking my advice and laying some money on a Manchester United victory in this game then I would also suggest that you get maximum value from your bet by combining it in a multiplier with a few bets on other sports, for example you could study the cricket odds for England’s upcoming one-day series. Another option might be to study the Cheltenham Open meeting odds and combine a wager on a horse with your bet on a United victory. By creating a multiplier in this manner you stand to make a pretty penny should all of your predictions prove correct.

Trying to decide who is going to win the Premier League this year has been made remarkably easier by the first nine weekends of the season. While at the beginning of the campaign I probably would have put my money on a Manchester Untied victory, the way that that Manchester City have started the season suggests that there will be no stopping them. Their 6-1 thrashing of their local rivals last weekend showed that they have the kind of attacking potential to threaten any defence in Europe and the quality of some of the build up play for their goals suggests that they might even be able to give Barcelona a run for their money in the Champions League.

Though United were reduced to ten men for the entirety of the second half due to Johnny Evans’ red card, City still exploited the consequent space magnificently. Mario Balotelli was in imperious form on the day, bagging two goals despite the fact that the fire brigade had had to be called to his Cheshire mansion the night before to put out a blaze caused by him shooting fireworks out of his bathroom window, while David Silva showed why many opinions in football quarters rate him as the most creative player in the Premiership, pulling the strings in midfield and setting up most of City’s best attacking work with his incisive passing. Though Darren Fletcher reduced the deficit around the hour mark with a beautiful strike curled into the top corner, this only spurred City into further attacking brilliance and they gave the score line some gloss with three goals in the last five minutes. They consequently look like taking the league title as they are now five points clear and have already played plenty of the top teams in the league.

If you are going to put a bet in City winning the Premier League, then I would suggest that you increase the value of your bet by combining it with a wager on another sport, for example you could take a look a the current trends in American football betting. You could also be even more specific and study the Super Bowl betting odds. By creating as multiplier you will increase the value of both bets and make a tidy packet if your predictions are correct.

Next Monday night Newcastle United visit Stoke City in what promises to be an enthralling football match. Alan Pardew’s men have started in the season in fantastic form and are still unbeaten in the league so far since August. Admittedly they have yet to play any teams of real quality other than their match against Arsenal on the opening day of the season, but that was when Arsene Wenger’s men were still suffering in the turmoil that followed Cesc Fabregas’ and Samir Nasri’s departures from the club for Barcelona and Manchester City respectively. Still, they have been playing some beautifully fluid football and the goal scoring form of Ibrahim Ba since the end of Ramadan has meant that they always possess a goal threat. Gutierrez is also becoming a world class player while the two Taylors – Ryan and Steven – have been forming a formidable partnership at the heart of Newcastle United’s defence.

Stoke are also on the up since the signing of Peter Crouch in the summer from Tottenham Hotspur has meant that they possess even more aerial threat than last season. Tony Pulis’ men are renowned for scoring the majority of their goals from set pieces or from Rory Delap’s long throw and though this has been working for the last few years, teams now know what to expect and they are going to need to develop some new tactics for scoring if they are going to achieve anything this season other than mid-table mediocrity. I would consequently predict that Newcastle United take the points in this match.

If you are going to take my advice and bet on a Newcastle United victory, I would also recommend that you combine your bet on them winning with another sport, for example you could take a look at the Pacquiao odds for his upcoming bout in Las Vegas. Another idea is to do this online because many bookies will offer you free bets when you make a wager, which means you can lay another bet to cover your first bet or to create a potentially very profitable multiplier.

In Fulham’s match against Everton at Craven Cottage next weekend, it will be fascinating to see which of these two mid-table teams comes out on top. Neither side will be near to qualifying for Europe or getting relegated come the end of this season and so this game will undoubtedly be a close encounter. Since Martin Jol’s arrival at Fulham he has turned them into an organised and creative outfit that can beat anybody on their day. The partnership of Andy Johnson and Bobby Zamora up front always promises goals as both players are excellent finishers with decent pace. It is a classic example of the big-man-little-man combination involving Zamora winning aerial battles and Andy Johnson scampering onto his knockdowns. The quality that they possess in midfield, where Danny Murphy pulls the strings, should also stand them in good stead against an Everton side that have yet to recover from the loss of Mikel Arteta to Arsenal on the last day of the summer transfer window.

David Moyes’ men always start the season strongly and then fade. This season they have had an atrocious start to the season however, and will be hoping that a victory in this match will begin a prolonged run of decent form and results. Louis Saha has never really lived up to his billing for the Blues but the fact that he is returning to Craven Cottage where he used to average over twenty goals a season could well spark the striker into life. Osman has also been in fine form but David Moyes will know that he needs to purchase a replacement for Arteta as soon as possible and will be waiting anxiously for the start of the new transfer window in January so he can invest the £10 million burning a hole in his pocket. I would imagine that this game will end in a draw as Everton are just about the stronger side but Fulham will have home advantage on the day.

If you are planning to place a bet on this game ending in a draw, then I would also suggest that you get the most value possible from your bet by including the wager with other bets in a multiplier, for example you could take a look at the snooker World Championship odds and include a bet on Ronnie O’Sullivan with your bet on this match ending in a draw. Snooker odds notoriously vary hugely depending on which bookie you lay your bet with so make sure that you scour the internet for the best possible odds with which to create your multiplier.

Manchester United welcome their arch-rivals Manchester City to Old Trafford next weekend for what promises to be a cracker of a match. The historic rivalry between the two sides means that these are always fiery encounters filled with incident and controversy. Last season saw Wayne Rooney’s spectacular injury-time winner in the form of an acrobatic bicycle kick and Sir Alex Ferguson will be hoping that his hotheaded striker can complete comparable feats this season to silence their noisy neighbours. Both teams have been in fantastic form so far this campaign and currently stand first and second in the league table with just two points separating them.

City have started the season so well primarily due to the fantastic form of Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Dzeko. Sergio Aguero has been a revelation since his arrival from Atletico Madrid for £38 million in the summer. He is clearly one of the finest finishers in world football, as his eight goals already this season have demonstrated. David Silva has been wreaking havoc against opposition defences all season by cutting in from the right wing on his left foot, meaning that there are numerous opportunities as he drifts into the final third to play the kind of reverse ball that all strikers thrive on. Dzeko has also been scoring freely, meaning that City have hardly missed their previous captain and talisman Carlos Tevez since he stated his desire to leave the club and was consequently sidelined. His temper tantrum in Munich was a step too far and it looks unlikely that he will ever play for the club again.

In this match I think I would probably predict a draw as both teams are in such fine form at the moment that they may well cancel each other out. If you are going to take my advice and bet on a draw, get the most value from your bet by combining it with another wager on a different sporting event, for example you could take a look a the Davis Cup odds and bet on which nation you think will emerge victorious from any one of the upcoming ties. You could also study the trends in ATP betting and combine a bet on a golfer with your wager on the Manchester derby ending in a draw. By creating a multiplier you stand to make much more money if your predictions prove to be correct.

Everton play host to Manchester United on Saturday next week and if you are thinking of placing a bet on this game, then I would suggest that you definitely put your money on Manchester United. This is because Everton have not beaten United home or away for nearly a decade so despite the fact that the Merseysiders will be at home, it is quite likely that they will still be on the end of a right thrashing. United have been in imperious form so far this season with Wayne Rooney, Ashley Young and Phil Jones particularly outstanding, while Everton have been struggling since the departure of their playmaker and talisman Mikel Arteta for Arsenal on the last day of the summer transfer window. David Moyes consequently has a huge hole in the centre of his midfield as the fact that the transfer took place at the last minute meant that the Everton manager had no time to invest the £10 million fee in new players.

Manchester United, meanwhile, have no comparable concerns. Though Paul Scholes retired in the summer, the emergence of Tom Cleverley as a top quality central midfielder means that Ferguson still has plenty of options in the middle of the park, while the fact that at 36 Ryan Giggs can no longer play as many games as he used to be able to is not a problem due to the signing of Ashley Young from Aston Villa, along with the continued improvement of Nani. Ferguson also has a wealth of striking talent up front from which to choose, with the return of Danny Wellbeck from Sunderland pushing Berbatov and Michael Owen even further down the pecking order. Wayne Rooney has been in superb form since the start of the season despite his sending off for England and the arrest of his father for betting irregularities, while Chris Smalling is also starting to emerge as a challenger for a place in England’s Euro 2012 squad.

If you are going to put a bet on Manchester United emerging victorious from this fixture, and I would certainly suggest that you do, then I would also recommend that you combine your wager with another bet, for example you could take a look at the trends for Europa League betting. Alternatively you could take a look at the Championship odds. By creating a multiplier you will get the most bang for your buck if all of your bets come to fruition and you will stand to make a packet.

In the game next week between Manchester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers, I really can’t see any result being possible other than City giving Wolves a right thrashing. Mick McCarthy’s men were lucky not to lose their seventh game in a row last week when they came from two goals down against newly promoted Swansea to snatch a draw in the last minute, which goes some way to showing the awful form they have been in so far this season. They are stuck in the relegation zone and if they are going to get out of it then they are going to need to rapidly improve sooner rather than later.

And it seems highly unlikely that a visit to the Stadium of Manchester is going to be the place to begin their revival. Manchester City are top of the league having gone the entire season so far unbeaten and having dropped just two points. Roberto Mancini has got his charges playing a counter-attacking style of football based on always keeping six outfield players behind the ball and then relying on the speed and skill of his attackers to nick a few up the other end once that sacred clean sheet has been secured. He employs that very Italian formation of 4-2-3-1 with a lone striker up front and two defensive midfielders. David Silva drifts in from the right wing using his left foot while Aguero, Balotelli or James Milner drift in from the left wing using their right foot. This means that the team is naturally quite narrow and they don’t get a lot of crosses into the box, but it is ideally suited for creating the opportunities to play the kind of reverse through balls that all fast strikers thrive on.

I would consequently predict a comfortable win for the home team in this match, perhaps by four or five goals. And if you are going to lay a wager on a City victory, I would also suggest that you create a multiplier with a bet on another sporting event so that you get better odds for both bets, for example you could take a look at the trends in the Kempton betting for the upcoming meets. If you are going to create a multiplier with one of these horse races, make sure that you take a look online at the varying odds for Kempton odds because you will get a far wider range of choice of different bets by using online bookies rather than walking up the high street.

England’s chances of winning Euro 2012 were dealt a massive blow in their last qualifier against Montenegro when Wayne Rooney lashed out in injury time and consequently received a straight red for violent conduct. Fears that he could receive a lengthy ban were validated a week later when UEFA announced the player would be suspended for three games, meaning that he will now miss all three of England’s group stage games in the tournament. Fabio Capello has even consequently spoken of not taking the player to the tournament at all, though I would imagine this is highly unlikely. Still, even if England are able to qualify for the knock-out stages without their best player and he is then able to return for the crunch matches in the tournament, it is far from ideal preparation.

If you are going to place a bet on Euro 2012, I would consequently suggest that you put your money on Spain or Germany. England are probably third favourites even without Rooney for the group stages but they are sure to struggle against these other two teams unless Capello can sort the midfield formation out. A lot will depend on the fitness and form of key players nearer to the tournament. English people will be hoping that Jack Wilshere is able to recover from his ankle injury sooner rather than later so that he can re-find his form of last season in time for the summer. Wilshere could be partnered in central midfield by either Scott Parker or Gareth Barry, leaving Ashley Young, Stuart Downing, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Theo Walcott to fight for the three attacking midfield positions. England also have a wealth of talent up front even without Rooney and could start with either Darren Bent, Danny Wellbeck, Jermaine Defoe or Peter Crouch in the solitary striking role. England will undoubtedly still attract a lot of Euro 2012 betting, but much will depend on their ability to get their formation set and comfortable before the tournament begins. They will have four friendlies between now and then to do so.
